house of ebony...
This is a great topic. I had the same conversation with someone a while back about the Gullah language which was created back in the slavery days as a form of communication for the slaves from west africa. You remember the show Gullah Gullah Island? lol thats my heritage right there! Any way...the person said I shouldn't learn that language because it embraces an acceptance of slavery. Lets just say his soul lack wise thoughts! I say embrace all of your history...I'm just happy we even know what our heritage is!
wow! i never looked at it like that. great point. thanks for your comment. its needed :)
I think a lot of times, we as black people want to push all those who are dark skinned in any form to ultimately only accept our african descent. Perhaps it derives from rebellousness towards some other cultures who formally oppressed us and accepting just the blackness over the others is a show of great strengths. However, I feel like we shouldn't embrace just black, white, or anything else anyway......We should just embrace....ourselves as human beings, accepting all that differentiates us as long as it is deep-rooted in love....
this is so true ---> "We should just embrace....ourselves as human beings, accepting all that differentiates us as long as it is deep-rooted in love..."
great post, very true.
